The license governing your installation and use of the MuteHint desktop application. By installing or using the Software, you agree to be bound by these terms.
Effective: 8 May 2026 · Updated: 15 October 2026

1.License grant
Subject to your compliance with this Agreement and timely payment of any applicable fees, MuteHint grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to install and run the Software on devices you own or control, solely for your personal or internal business use.
2.Account and plans
Use of the Software requires a MuteHint account. The Free plan includes a limited number of sessions per week, each of limited length. A paid plan or lifetime license obtained through MuteHint's authorized payment channels removes those limits. Without a valid account, the Software's core functionality will be disabled.
License keys are personal to you and may not be shared, resold, or transferred.
3.Bring your own key (BYOK)
The Software requires you to provide your own API credentials for a third-party large language model provider (such as Google Gemini or Groq). You are solely responsible for obtaining, securing, and paying for those credentials and for complying with the applicable provider's terms.
4.Audio and content handling
Audio captured by the Software during your conversations is processed locally on your device and sent directly from your device to your chosen third-party LLM provider over your network connection.
5.Recording-consent notice
6.Restrictions
You agree not to:
- Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the Software, except as expressly permitted by this Agreement or applicable law.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits such activity despite this restriction.
- Rent, lease, lend, sell, sublicense, distribute, or otherwise transfer the Software or your license to any third party.
- Remove, alter, or obscure any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices in the Software.
- Use the Software to violate any law, regulation, or third-party right, including recording-consent, anti-fraud, and anti-cheating laws.
- Circumvent license enforcement, usage limits, or authentication mechanisms.
- Use the Software to harass, defame, or harm others, or to generate content that is illegal, hateful, or sexually exploitative.
7.Updates
MuteHint releases new versions of the Software from time to time. The Software checks for them and tells you when one is available; you install it from mutehint.com. Updates may add, modify, or remove features. Some updates are required: the Software will not start a session until a required update is installed. An older version may stop working over time and will not receive security fixes.
8.Ownership
The Software is licensed, not sold. MuteHint and its licensors retain all right, title, and interest in and to the Software, including all intellectual property rights. No rights are granted to you other than those expressly stated in this Agreement.
9.Third-party components
The Software incorporates certain third-party open-source components, each of which is governed by its own license. A list of those components and their licenses is included with the Software (typically accessible via the Help or About menu) or is available on request.
10.Data and privacy
MuteHint's collection and use of personal data in connection with the Software is described in the Privacy Policy at mutehint.com/privacy, which is incorporated into this Agreement by reference.
11.Termination
This Agreement remains in effect until terminated. It will terminate automatically without notice if you breach any of its terms. You may terminate it at any time by uninstalling the Software and ceasing all use.
On termination, your license ends and you must destroy all copies of the Software in your possession or control. Sections 6, 8, 12, 13, 14, and 15 survive termination.
12.Disclaimer of warranties
The Software is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including without limitation any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. MuteHint does not warrant that the Software will operate uninterrupted or error-free, or that suggestions produced by third-party LLM providers will be accurate, appropriate, or reliable. You use the Software at your own risk.
13.Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will MuteHint or its affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or reputational harm, arising out of or related to this Agreement or the Software, even if advised of the possibility.
14.Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless MuteHint and its affiliates from any claim, loss, liability, damage, cost, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of the Software, your violation of this Agreement, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
15.Governing law and venue
This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. The exclusive venue for any dispute arising under this Agreement is the state and federal courts located in the State of Wyoming, USA. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.
16.Export compliance
You agree to comply with all applicable export-control and sanctions laws of the United States and other jurisdictions. You represent that you are not located in, and are not a national or resident of, any country subject to a comprehensive U.S. embargo, and that you are not on any U.S. government list of restricted parties.
17.Assignment
You may not assign this Agreement without MuteHint's prior written consent. MuteHint may assign this Agreement in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
18.Entire agreement
This Agreement, together with the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, constitutes the entire agreement between you and MuteHint regarding the Software and supersedes all prior agreements. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
19.Contact
MuteHint is run by its founders and is not yet a registered company. Every purchase is sold and handled by Lemon Squeezy, the Merchant of Record. Questions about this Agreement:
